Stories and novels and memoirs are composed of scenes — but what makes a good one, and when does your story need one? What are the building blocks of a great scene? How can we make our scenes come alive and move our stories forward? And how can we most powerfully balance action against exposition or backstory?
During this 4-week bootcamp, we'll investigate what goes into shaping a vivid, engrossing scene, and what pitfalls to avoid. We'll read published examples and write scenes with a close eye to world-building, setting, characterization, dialogue, and blocking.
This workshop is meant for writers of all genres and experience levels. Come ready to read, write, support others and be supported.
