Writing workshops in a casual, supportive setting
The Madison Writers’ Studio was founded by award-winning novelists Michelle Wildgen and Susanna Daniel with the goal of bringing high-level writing instruction to a sustained, intimate workshop setting.
We believe the best way to study writing is face-to-face in small groups. Our classes give writers time to generate and revise new work and connect with a tight-knit community. Workshops are laid-back yet challenging, held in the homes of our enthusiastic and widely published instructors.
Creative expression is a must, but our larger goal is to help writers improve by sharing common pitfalls and useful strategies. We read published work with a writer’s eye, use exercises to hone aspects of craft, and approach each other’s work with kindness, humor, and honesty.
We believe all writers are brave and deserve respect, close reading, and thoughtful feedback — and we aim to provide it. Applicants are encouraged to apply now for workshops starting in the fall of 2013 and spring of 2014.
