Creative Writing for Teens

Meets: Weekly for 4 weeks, Thursdays 6-7:30p
Instructor: Susanna Daniel
Location: West Side
Cost: $160
Enrollment: 2 openings

Every talented and hardworking writer we know — and we’re including ourselves! — started writing creatively in his or her teenage years. We’ll mine our creativity while learning about character development, vivid description, and concrete language. You’ll meet other young writers and read some great short fiction and poems, all geared to help you tell your own story as powerfully as possible.

During the course of the four-week session, each writer will submit exercises and complete one complete short story. We’ll discuss the strengths of each piece with a focus on support and encouragement. This workshop is meant for teens ages 13-17, and no previous experience workshopping is required. Come ready to read, write, and express yourself.

We'll adjust the workshop's schedule to the needs of our teens. Apply to be included when we next schedule a one-day or multi-week workshop for teens.
