Meets: August 2, 2025 from 1-4p
Instructor: Sara Roahen
Location: A Place to Be
Cost: $95 includes Sara’s book, pen and notebook, and refreshments
Every life holds stories worth telling—and writing them down can transform how we see ourselves and connect with others.
In this intimate, in-person workshop, you’ll join a small group of fellow writers to begin capturing the stories that have shaped you.
Whether you’re seeking to preserve family memories, explore personal identity, or reflect on the past with greater clarity, this class offers the space, structure, and support to begin—or deepen—your life story writing practice.
We’ll explore the ways families pass down stories, write from prompts, and share work in a safe and welcoming environment. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of your voice and story, and with tools to keep going.
Each participant will receive a copy of Sara’s book How to Begin Writing Your Life Stories: Putting Memories on the Page, plus a dedicated notebook and pen. Light refreshments will be served.
This workshop is appropriate for anyone interested in writing their life stories. No prior writing experience is necessary, though experienced writers will gain insights into how a regular life story writing practice can benefit their other work.
Class size is limited to foster connection and discussion.
