Do you have a hard time sticking to a writing schedule?
The WC offers protected writing time twice a week. At the top of the hour, I’ll briefly share words of wisdom and advice, optional prompts, and good creative energy, then we’ll all write with cameras off or on. At the end of the hour, we briefly check in and say goodbye.
All you have to do is show up.

Several times a week, I drive to a yoga studio to spend an hour exercising with dozens of other humans. At the end, sweating and satisfied, we all lie quietly on our mats. Side by side.
Sure, I could cheaply and easily roll out my mat at home instead. But I don’t.
Writing is actually a very active pursuit. It can be stimulating and exhausting, as you know. But it doesn’t always feel that way when it happens (or doesn’t happen) without movement or witness.
The Writing Collective is about cultivating individual practice and progress using the time-tested creative tools of inspiration, accountability, and community.
Each of our Writing Collective sessions will:
Open with a brief reading to settle in.
Offer a prompt to guide your writing, productivity advice, and/or creative inspiration.
Hold 50 minutes of quiet time to write together.
Close with a prompt to ease your way back to the work next time.
Include a shared tracking spreadsheet for logging your progress (optional).
Accountability: Attend 20 out of 24 sessions to receive free access to the first three chapters of our online course Write Your Novel (normally $199). These 3 chapters are designed for writers of all genres, not just novelists.
Guest writers will occasionally sub in to offer fresh perspectives.
Like yoga, writing is a practice. We can strengthen our practice together in community. Also like yoga, all you need to do is show up.
Think of the Writing Collective as creative church: Your only responsibility is show up, listen, and stay in your seat.
